Located in one of the oldest historic villages in Kentucky, the Simon Kenton Shrine is an authentic log cabin built in the 1790s. Named to honour Simon Kenton, who once owned a store in Washington, the place houses farm implements, tools, household goods, and other items available at a frontier store.

The first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, founded by Retired Colonel Harland Sanders, was established in the town of Corbin in 1930. To this day, the image of Sanders adorns the company's logo all over the world.
Kentucky ranks first in the US for whiskey production and has been produced there since 1820.
