Native Costa Ricans are called Tykos and Tykes.
The country hosts over 5% of the world's biodiversity. Although its land covers only 0.03% of the planet's surface, more than 10% of the world's butterflies live here - Costa Rica is home to some 750,000 species of insects and 20,000 different species of spiders.
