Toruń gingerbread - Toruń, Poland

Toruń gingerbread (Polish: pierniki toruńskie) is a traditional Polish gingerbread that has been produced since the Middle Ages in the city of Toruń. Old Polish sayings connect Toruń with the making of some form of gingerbread, and the expansion of the craft, which started in the 13th century.

 

Etna - Saint Paul's Bay, Malta

Since 1987, some areas of Mount Etna have been protected by the Etna Regional Park. In 2013, the volcano was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There are nearly 200 caves in the park, created by flowing lava, which were used by people as shelters, burial sites, and snow storage.

There is an opinion that the matryoshka is not a traditional product of Russian craftsmanship but was created in 1890 as a result of inspiration with Japanese Daruma and Kokeshi dolls, including the doll-image of the sage Fukuruma or Fukurama, which contained the other six.   

They were brought from Japan by the wife of an industrialist and patron of the arts, Sawwa Mamontov.

Fish balls are a dish in China, notably popular in southern China, Hong Kong, Macau, Iceland, and Taiwan. They are made with fish paste and boiled in a soupy broth, or deep-fried. They are also common in Nordic countries.
