A specific genre of metal music, called Göteborg Sound, which belongs to the melodic death metal trend, has developed in Gothenburg. 

In 1731, the Swedish East India Company was established, thanks to which porcelain, tea, spices, fine fabrics, and other luxury goods were brought to Gothenburg by ship.
