Belvedere Castle in Vienna - Vienna, Austria


The Belvedere is a historic building complex consisting of two Baroque palaces (the Upper and Lower Belvedere), the Orangery, and the Palace Stables. 
The Belvedere was built in 1721-1722, where the State Treaty between the Allied and Austria has been signed on May 15, 1955.

Dark Irish beer - Galway, Ireland

Some Guinness gourmets judge its quality by its characteristic thick foam. Well, beer is good if every sip leaves a foam rim on the glass, which does not flow as the mug is empty.

In the past it was a drink of robbers, pirates, smugglers, and slavers, and for centuries it was a significant commodity being smuggled. 

The origin of the word rum is unclear: 
1. The name comes from the last syllable of the Latin word sugar - saccharum.
2. from the Dutch roemer - cups, because Dutch sailors called high-volume glasses rummers.
3. most likely - that the word rum comes from English rum, which in slang meant "tumult".

Huckleberries have the status of state fruit in Idaho and are wildly popular.

                                      

1 recipe pastry for a 9-inch double-crust pie
4 cups huckleberries
¾ cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon grated lemon set
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons heavy cream 


Step 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Step 2
Place huckleberries in pastry-lined pan. In a small bowl, mix together 3/4 cup sugar and flour. Spoon evenly over berries. Sprinkle lemon rind and lemon juice over top. Dot with butter. Cover with top crust. Seal edges and cut steam vents in top. Brush surface with cream, avoiding fluted edges of the crust. Sprinkle with 2 teaspoons sugar.
Step 3
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake an additional 20 to 25 minutes, until crust is golden brown.

Mosaic map of Madaba - Amman, Jordan


Map of Madaba - floor mosaic in the church of St. George in Madaba, Jordan, showing a map of the Middle East from the Byzantine period. The mosaic is the oldest cartographic representation of the Holy Land, including Jerusalem. It comes from the sixth century. 

The map from Madaba is the oldest known mosaic map in the history of art. It is one of the most valuable sources used by Biblical scholars and archaeologists to locate Bible sites.

An-32P Firekiller - Kiev, Ukraine


The Antonov AN-32P Firekiller air tanker. Special category type certificate granted on 10 March 1995.   
According to Antonov, a state-owned company in Ukraine, it can carry 8 tons od liquid which translates to about 2,000 gallons. It can be used as a cargo aircraft when not fighting fires.

Hearst Castle also known as La Cuesta Encantada is a luxury property of the American press magnate - William Randolph Hearst located in San Simeon, California.
Hearst's estate was often visited by many distinguished people from Hollywood and the world of politics, including Charlie Chaplin, Rudolf Valentino, or Winston Churchill.
La Cuesta Encantada has never been completed.  

Lompoc - before European settlers arrived, the area around Lompoc was inhabited by the Chumash people. The name of the city is derived from a Purisimeño term, "Lum Poc", which means "stagnant waters" or "lagoon".
