#6 GF - Lima, Peru

Lima - originally Ciudad de los Reyes, or "City of the Kings". Founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro.
According to the most popular theory, the name Peru comes from the local word biru - "river". Another hypothesis points to the name of the Indian chief Beru, who, when asked by Spanish explorers about the name of the country, did not understand their language and gave his own name.
