The flag of this country is a white rectangle with a country-shaped figure in the central part and two green olive branches. The white background and green twigs are supposed to refer to the peace between the two communities inhabiting the island - the Greeks and the Turks. The golden color of the island refers to the Latin origin of the country's name (cuprum - copper).
