In 1994 the Old Town of Vilnius was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
There are 40 churches in Vilnius, the most impressive of which is the baroque church of St. Peter and Paul in Antokol containing over 2,000 sculptures and a chapel at Ostra Brama with the famous image of Our Lady of Ostra Brama.
